File is too big

What to do if you are trying to upload an attachment that is too large

Written by Armalytix Support

Armalytix attempts to compress files before uploading but there is a file size limit of around 20mb after compression, and notably we have seen that pdfs do not compress very much.

If you're trying to upload a file that's too big, we suggest one of the following:

pdf:

Split the file up into separate files of a few pages each, and then multi-select the separate files before uploading.

Mac:

  1. Open the file in Preview

  2. If thumbnails are not shown on the left hit View/Thumbnails

  3. Hit File/Duplicate

  4. Delete some thumbnails

  5. Hit File/Save... and save the file

  6. Repeat steps 1-5 as necessary

Windows:

  1. open the PDF file (for example, in Microsoft Edge, or Adobe Reader).

  2. Go to File > Print, then select the "Microsoft Print to PDF" printer.

  3. Choose the pages you would like to split from the original PDF, enter this in the Page Range you would like to print, and then press Print.

  4. Choose the location where to save the new PDF with just the selected pages.

  5. Repeat steps 1-4 as necessary

png, jpg and jpeg:

To reduce the file size, follow the following steps:

Mac:

  1. Open the file in Preview

  2. Hit Tools/Adjust Size

  3. Ensure "Scale Proportionally" is checked

  4. Reduce the height or width

  5. Hit File/Save

Windows:

The steps to take on Windows are different depending on the version of Windows that you are running. This Microsoft link outlines the different steps to follow.
